Model Railroader July 1966
This is an atticle on the Aroostook Valley Railroad that was published in July 1966. Hopefully after all these years they will not sue me.
MR newsstand price was 50 cents. A year subscription was $6 or 3 years for $15. Linn Westcott was the Editor.
An Atlas ad has n/s flex track at .98 - .75 if you wanted brass. A turnout was $2.50 for brass - $2.95 for n/s. Bridges (deck, warren truss or plate girder) were $1.25 track included.
Mail order from AHC sees Athearn r-t-r F7 Diesel Loco "A" unit, your choice PRR, B&O or S.F. - $4.99
There was also a sale on Tyco car kits - .79 each or 6 for $4.39 or their r-t-r at $1.19.
Buildings saw the Atlas station for $1.98, the lumber yard and office building also $1.98 and the old water tower for just $1.49.
The "At The Throttle" commentary was on on taking pictures of layouts. I quote Linn Westcott "The lethal accuracy of the camera is at once pitiless and humbling."
